Social Media Strategist Wanted

We are looking for a Social Media Strategist to join our team. The ideal candidate is not only passionate and creative but has the drive and energy to keep up with the ever-changing world of social media. In this role, you’ll be expected to be the channel expert, able to advise the strategy team and direct the creative team on how to maximize the use of each platform. You’ll be the team’s go-to source for trends, best practices, and new opportunities in the social space.

While you will have a creative team to develop most assets, creativity matters in this role. We expect you to bring a high degree of creativity to the way we employ social to achieve client and agency objectives. You must be a strong writer with good communication skills and an inherent sense of what will create engagement. The right candidate should also be strong organizationally and comfortable with a good degree of self-management. 

This person should have the ability to work effectively with our internal creative team and to have direct client contact, taking responsibility for determining and managing next steps resulting from those interactions. The ideal candidate will be senior enough to offer strong points of view but be humble enough to enjoy executing and managing campaigns and working in platforms like Khoros. 

This person will be part of the Firehouse Planning Team and work alongside brand strategists/strategic planners. They must be adept at working cross-functionally, with this team, as well as other agency teams. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing wicked smart strategies for how to best bring an idea to life in the social space; this could include selecting platforms, planning cadence and helping the creative team determine what message will create the intended action

  • Understanding our clients’ businesses and recommending how social should be used to drive their objectives and goals 

  • Scheduling campaigns in multiple social media platforms and monitoring those platforms for conversation opportunities (both negative and positive) 

  • Knowing your platforms, from Facebook to Reddit, and being able to direct a team to develop content most appropriate for each

  • Writing a limited amount of social content

  • Reporting on effectiveness, identifying key learnings and driving recommended changes to improve performance over time

  • Communicating effectively, with consumers and with clients

  • Prioritizing and managing workflow effectively

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism (PR, Digital Media), Marketing, Communications, or Advertising preferred

  • Experience with B2B and B2C clients preferred

  • Experience using social content management systems, specifically Khoros and Sprout Social, a strong positive
