Friday, November 3, marked the agency's 7th annual Make A Difference Day. Once again, we partnered with a wonderful nonprofit organization, Operation Freedom Continues, which provides free home repairs for veterans and first responders. This year we had the privilege of working with Mr. and Mrs. Simmons to help them revitalize their home.
Larry Simmons is a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam from 1968 – 1970. He suffered a stroke some time ago and that has left him weak and unable to care for the home as he would like. That is where Firehouse stepped in.
We were able accomplish quite a bit during the day by painting the home, staining the fence, freshening the landscaping and planting new shrubs and flowers. We were also able to leave this wonderful couple of more than 40 years a new grill and patio furniture to help them entertain their son and granddaughter.
See the before and after pictures below and see what a difference a day can make.
