Our 8th annual Make a Difference Day was another great opportunity for Firehouse to help out a deserving veteran and build a little teamwork along the way. Hard to believe this is already our 8th year of serving the community in this way. What started as just a simple community-driven expression of our brand promise – “creating ideas that make a difference”, this agency day of service has become one of my favorite days of the year and certainly a big part of our agency culture.
On Friday, November 2 we had the privilege of working with Mr. Henry and his family. Mr. Henry is a Vietnam veteran who has ongoing health and financial issues that have prevented him from keeping up his home as he would like.
As in prior years, we partnered with a wonderful nonprofit organization, Operation Freedom Continues, which provides free home repairs for veterans and first responders. It is especially gratifying to help Mr. Henry and this great organization around Veterans Day when we pause to say thanks for the sacrifices our veterans have made to ensure our safety and our freedoms.
The day was a great success and made significant improvements on the large yard and landscaping around the Henry home. We cut a lot of branches, trimmed a lot of trees and cleaned up a lot of trash and debris from the yard. We also managed to find some poison oak and a few fire ants along the way – all for a great cause.
See the before and after pics and see what a difference a day can make.
